Are you looking to make 2026 the year you give more back to your community? If so, you’re in luck.
The Inspire Centre (Airdrie Public Library) will transform into a hub of conversation, curiosity, and community spirit as ConnectFest returns to the city. Running from 1 pm to 4:30 pm on January 11, the event invites residents to explore the many ways they can give back; one conversation at a time.
Hosted by the Volunteer Airdrie Society, ConnectFest is designed to bring people and purpose together.
“This event serves as an opportunity for those who want to give back to meet face-to-face with local non-profits and learn more about their mission, programs and what type of help they need,” says Naomi Slipp, executive director of Volunteer Airdrie.
Volunteer Airdrie hosted ConnectFest twice in 2025 and the event grew in numbers and connections each time. The inaugural event in January at the Town and Country Centre featured 10 non-profits and drew about 100 attendees. By the September event (held in the same venue), both numbers had doubled.
“We consider both to have been successful and the feedback we got from non-profits and attendees was very helpful,” says Slipp.
This January’s edition is shaping up to be the biggest yet. Organizers are expecting at least 200 attendees, with 14 organizations already signed up and more registrations still coming in. Groups confirmed so far include Kiwanis, Drive Happiness, Boots on the Ground, the Airdrie Nordic Club, and several other social service clubs and community organizations.
“There are ways for everyone to give back and so many amazing non-profits in this city that could use support,” she says.
“This event is the place to go to learn all about them.”

ConnectFest is about accessibility, making it easy for people to discover opportunities that fit their interests, schedules, and skills. Slipp emphasized that volunteering isn’t a one-size-fits-all commitment.
For those unsure about taking the first step, the atmosphere is intentionally low-pressure.
“Stop by, grab a coffee and have a chat with organizations that interest you,” says Slipp.
“Volunteering is so beneficial not just to the organization you choose, and to the community, but it’s also incredible for our mental health and a wonderful way to meet new people and form new connections.”
The main goal of the event is simple and direct: “To connect those who want to volunteer with those that need volunteers.”
Free childcare will be available with support from sponsors Kumon Airdrie and Bump, Birth & Beyond. Volunteer Airdrie has partnered with LiitCare to create a Kids’ Zone, allowing parents to drop off their children while they engage with organizations.
Whether you’re new to volunteering or looking for a fresh way to get involved, ConnectFest offers a warm, practical entry point into community connection, right in the heart of Airdrie. Learn more at volunteerairdrie.ca.
