Spring 2025

The Airdrie Children’s Festival has been bringing excitement, entertainment and education to local kids since 2018. This year’s festival will take place at Nose Creek Park on May 24 to 25 from 10 am to 4 pm.

“The Airdrie Children’s Festival is a yearly festival with the goal to create a curiosity, ignite a passion, break down a barrier, remove a fear… all by giving our children the chance to see and do things they may not otherwise,” says Tara Levick, chair of the Airdrie Children’s Festival Society.

The event features four distinct fun and learning components:

  • Children’s village
  • Inspiration stations
  • Main-stage entertainment
  • City-wide workshops

“Our mission is to encourage inclusion by removing barriers to participation by removing or reducing cost,” adds Levick.

Children’s Village

The Children’s village at Nose Creek Park is a play space designed to be grand in scope with especially unique activities. Expect to see craft centres, adventure-style carnival games and much more.

Inspiration Station

Inspiration station activities teach kids through a form of play and allow them to think about future career possibilities.

“We’ve seen electrical companies build a circuit board for kids to learn how electricity works, nurse practitioner’s use different colour Cheerios to show kids the different components of their blood, veterinary clinics teach kids how to find their dog’s heartbeat,” says Levick.

“The more out-of-the-box thinking, the better. Kids learn in such unique ways!”

Entertainment Stage

You can’t have a festival without an entertainment stage. Families will also get to see a showcase of local talent who are sure to inspire kids to keep dreaming and pursue their own passions. Performers include Banff’s Smilin’ Rylan Goudreau, Christopher Cool Magic, Hayley Isabel, Trixtan Entertainment with Honey Bee and Optimus Prime, Elements Dance and many more.

Workshops

Workshops hosted in intimate settings will run throughout the city during the week of the festival. Sign up on the website to attend whatever topics are of interest.

2K Family Fun Run

Who doesn’t love a little jog in the morning? On Sunday, get the kids pumped up and moving before the festival begins. After a good stretch, volunteers will direct kids around Nose Creek Park on a fun, easy 2km course.

Volunteers

Levick says between 10,000 and 12,000 people attended the event last year and they are always in need of volunteers.

“Anyone over the age of 14 can volunteer,” she says.

“We need over 100 volunteer positions filled for the weekend to be a success. Shifts range from parking duties to hands-on games with kids. It’s easy work and a great way to give back to your community.”
