Spring 2026

If you could sum up the spirit of childhood in a single weekend, it would look a lot like Nose Creek Regional Park during the Airdrie Children’s Festival. On May 23 and 24, the park will once again transform into a vibrant hub of curiosity and creativity, inviting families to a world where learning feels like play and every corner offers a new discovery.

Since forming as a society in 2018, the Airdrie Children’s Festival Society (ACFS) has been driven by a singular, powerful mission: to spark imagination while ensuring every child in the community has the chance to participate.

“Our mission is to encourage inclusion by removing barriers to participation by removing cost,” says Tara Levick, chair of the ACFS.

“The festival is free for all to attend.”

It is this commitment to accessibility that makes the event a crown jewel of the Airdrie spring calendar, drawing thousands of families who Levick says are often surprised that an experience of this scale comes at no price.

The 2026 festival promises to be the most ambitious yet, with South Airdrie Smiles stepping in as the presenting sponsor. The heart of the event remains its four signature activity areas: the children’s village, the entertainment stage, roving characters, and the beloved inspiration stations.

The inspiration stations are what truly set this festival apart. More than just booths, these interactive centres allow children to engage with local businesses and organizations in ways that might spark a lifelong passion. Whether it’s meeting a scientist, an artist, or a local hero, these stations provide a glimpse into future career possibilities through hands-on activities. For 2026, Levick notes they are excited to welcome several new organizations to the lineup, ensuring that returning families will find something fresh to explore.

On the main stage, the energy will be high with performances from Smilin’ Rylan, Christopher Cool Magic, and the JUNO-nominated duo Bobs & LoLo. Meanwhile, the park grounds will come alive with roving entertainment, featuring everything from the Optimus Prime and Honeybee stilt walkers to princess and superhero meet-and-greets.

For those looking to start their Sunday with a burst of energy, the McKee Homes 2KM Fun Run is back. This non-competitive jog through the park is a favourite for kids who love to move, and registration is open online now.

As Airdrie continues to grow, the festival remains a vital space for connection.

“We want the next generation to have the tools, the acceptance, and the open-mindedness to be whatever they want to be,” says Levick.

The festival runs from 10 am to 4 pm both days. While admission is free, families are encouraged to plan ahead as on-site parking is limited. For a full schedule of events and to sign up for the Fun Run or workshops, visit airdriechildrensfest.com.
