Discover the Magic of the Yukon — Right Here in Airdrie

Story by Stacie Gaetz

Spring 2026

Looking for a family-friendly night out that feels like a getaway? Mark your calendars for March 18 at 7:30 pm as Bert Church LIVE Theatre presents Radio Silence, a captivating production that promises to transport Airdrie audiences to the rugged wilderness of the 1920s Yukon.

A Journey of Mystery and Mask

Set in Dawson City on the traditional territory of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in, Radio Silence tells the whimsical story of a twin sister’s search for her sibling — the Yukon’s first female bush pilot — who has mysteriously vanished. This isn’t your average stage play; it is a profoundly moving experience brought to life through the signature masks of WONDERHEADS Theatre, stunning puppetry, and original music by Calla Kinglit.

A Collaborative Canadian Gem

Created by Open Pit Theatre, the show is a true testament to Canadian artistry. Designers from across the country travelled north to collaborate with Yukon visual artists, composers, and performers. The result? A uniquely Canadian masterpiece featuring breathtaking visual projections by Rosemary Scanlon and Vashti Etzel that you won’t see anywhere else.

Part of the Festival of Animated Objects

This local performance is taking place during the 15th Annual Festival of Animated Objects. The festival brings Calgary and the surrounding area to life, celebrating the sophisticated art of storytelling through “inanimate” objects. From mythical creatures to curious “thingamajigs,” the festival is designed to stir the imagination of all ages.

More than just a show, Radio Silence is an invitation to connect, share a laugh, and leave feeling inspired. Whether you’re planning a unique date night or a fun outing with the kids, don’t miss this affordable chance to wander through the wilderness without ever leaving Airdrie.
