Calling all creative young entrepreneurs! Are you a young artist, crafter, or creator aged eight to 15 looking to showcase your talent and sell your amazing creations? Now’s your chance!
“This is your time to shine, connect with the community, and turn your passion into profit! Whether you make jewelry, art, crafts, clothing, accessories, or something totally unique – we want you!” says Kathy Ritcher, manager of events and volunteer coordination/administration with the Boys & Girls Club.
BGC Airdrie (formerly Airdrie Boys and Girls Club) will be hosting a Made by Me Youth Market on June 14 from 11am to 3pm at 200 East Lake Crescent.
“BGC Airdrie Club is hosting its first-ever Youth Market – and we’re looking for 25 creative youth vendors to be part of this exciting event,” says Kathy Ritcher.
“Come and have fun, sell your creations, make money for summer!”
She adds that taking part in a market like this teaches kids business skills such as creating a sellable product, money management and marketing. The table fee is $25
Those who attend the market will pay $2 for attendance (for those 13 years old and older) with all the proceeds going towards BGC Airdrie services.
“These youth worked so hard to make their items to sell! They are so proud of themselves so come show your support and make a purchase or two,” says Ritcher.
Benefits of taking part in a youth market
From handmade jewelry to eco-friendly soaps, custom art to baked goods, youth markets are far more than fun weekend events — they’re powerful tools for growth, learning, and confidence.
Creating products for Youth Markets teach kids several valuable skills by placing them in a real-world scenario that gives participants hands-on experience in sales, customer service, budgeting, and even marketing. Instead of learning business from a textbook, kids get to apply skills directly — seeing what works, what doesn’t, and how to adapt.
Other benefits to taking part in a youth market include:
- Boosting confidence and communication
- Teaching financial literacy
- Involving them in the community
- Creating a gateway to future careers
- Encouraging a balance between imagination and execution
Email Ritcher at kritcher@bgcairdrie.com for details before June 6 to secure your table. Come down the north end of the Ron Ebbesen Arena on June 14 to get your hands on some one-of-a-kind items created by local youth.
