The visual arts scene in Airdrie is stepping into the spotlight with the launch of the inaugural Airdrie ArtWalk on September 12 at Inspire (Airdrie Public Library) from 11 am to 4 pm.
Created in response to the local talent across the community, this newly curated celebration invites residents and visitors to connect directly with regional creatives in a vibrant, welcoming setting. Inspired by the growing strength of Airdrie’s visual arts community and informed by successful art walks in neighbouring cities, the event marks a major milestone for local culture.
Community Effort
The Airdrie ArtWalk is hosted and brought to life by the Airdrie Arts & Culture Council (AACC). Behind the scenes, a dedicated volunteer committee and a wide network of community contributors have joined forces to guide the planning, coordination, and logistics. Built on a shared belief in creating opportunities for artists to be seen, supported, and celebrated, this collective effort ensures that the event remains rooted in community spirit and local passion.
“We aim to dispel common myths about the arts and culture,” according to the AACC website.
“Contrary to popular belief, the arts drive economic growth, foster community identity and improve social cohesion and mental health. The AACC will highlight these benefits, making the arts and culture accessible and valuable to everyone in Airdrie.”
What to Expect
Designed as a free, family-friendly event, Airdrie ArtWalk offers a unique chance to spend the day exploring original creations, meeting the people behind the work, and taking in the city’s creative energy. Visitors will encounter a wide and diverse range of mediums, including:
- Painting: From classic landscapes to contemporary abstracts.
- Photography: Capturing local perspectives, portraits, and striking landscapes.
- Sculpture: Three-dimensional works crafted from wood, metal, clay, and more.

Special guest Miles Canyon will also perform at the event. Canyon has entertained audiences at the Canadian Country Music Association and at the Airdrie Mayor’s Night.

The Airdrie Arts & Culture Council is relaunching ARTember, a month-long arts and cultural tourism initiative that expands the excitement of ArtWalk across the entire month of September.
Beginning September 1, residents and visitors will be invited to explore Airdrie through a free Art Passport, discovering participating businesses, galleries, cafés, artist installations and creative experiences throughout the city. Along the way, they’ll collect passport stamps, unlock prizes and support local businesses while experiencing Airdrie’s growing arts scene.
The initiative is designed to strengthen connections between arts, tourism and local business while encouraging residents to rediscover their city through creativity.
