Spring 2024

The 2024 Airdrie Mayor’s Night of the Arts is set to dazzle the community on Sunday, April 14th, at 6:00 p.m. at the Bert Church Theater.

The cultural extravaganza promises not only a night of entertainment but also a spotlight on the abundance of artistic talent within the community.

“The Mayor’s Night of the Arts was founded with a dual purpose: to honour the exceptional contributions of individuals and groups within Airdrie’s arts scene and to foster a deeper connection between the arts and the community at large,” reads a statement from the groups mission page.

“Our mission is to showcase the extraordinary creativity that thrives in Airdrie, from visual arts, music, dance, and theatre to literary arts and new media.”

Since its inception in 2015, the Airdrie Mayor’s Night of the Arts has evolved into a celebration of various art forms, including music, dance and theatre. After a limited revival last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2024 edition aims to make a grand return as the annual signature event of the newly established Airdrie Arts and Culture Council.

The event seeks to honour local artists in six different categories, including youth, emerging artists, professional artists, arts educators, champions of the arts and patrons of the arts.

Around 60 nominations for the Awards have already been received.

Nominees undergo rigorous screening for eligibility, followed by independent scoring based on rubric criteria by panel members. The final decision rests on the highest total scores in each category, with tiebreakers resolved through panel discussions.

What sets this year’s event apart is the emphasis on local support. From catering to acts and the actual awards itself – everything is sourced within Airdrie.

A few of the artists who will be performing includes singer-songwriter Hayley Isabel, The Airdrie Scots Pipes & Drums and a short performance from Ambition Performing Arts Inc.

Tickets now on sale, and are open to all Airdrie residents.
