To celebrate youth in our community, the City of Airdrie and the Airdrie Youth Engagement Strategy Advisory Committee (Airdrie YES), are kicking off National Youth Week with four days of free activities for residents between the ages of 12 to 18.
“National Youth Week is an important time to celebrate the creativity, passion and potential of young people in our community,” says Mayor Heather Spearman.
“Airdrie’s youth contribute so much to the spirit and vibrancy of our city, and this week provides meaningful opportunities for them to connect, participate and explore activities that inspire and empower.”
Airdrie YES Committee is community-driven and consists of dedicated stakeholders from various youth-serving groups and organizations. The committee works to facilitate and guide the implementation of the Youth Strategy Framework to identify many priority action items to help Airdrie become more youth friendly.
The week-long celebration from May 1 to 7 aims to highlight the importance of youth engagement and provide opportunities for young people to connect, learn and have fun.
“We’re excited to see Airdrie’s young residents come together, build connections and create lasting memories,” says Spearman.
