Airdrie Chamber announces 2021 Airdrie Business Awards finalists

The Airdrie Chamber of Commerce (ACC) announced the finalists for the 2021 edition of the Airdrie Business Awards on Sept. 9.

Nominations were open from June 1 to Aug. 3 and more than 265 nominations were received.

“The Airdrie Chamber of Commerce is proud of the strength and resiliency of our business community, and we are thrilled that over 265 worthy businesses were nominated for one of nine awards, including three new categories.” says Marilyne Aalhus, executive director of the ACC.

The community involvement portion of the voting process accounts for the remaining 50 per cent of the total overall scoring and voting takes place from Sept. 8 to Oct. 9 at airdriechamber.ab.ca.

The Finalists

The Airdrie Business Leader Award is presented to an individual who has been operating a business for at least three years and has demonstrated exceptional leadership, business acumen, philanthropy and commitment to the Airdrie business community.

This year’s finalists are:

  • Chantel Doan – BrokerLink,
  • Courtney Rose – Rose Gold Piercing & Tattoo,
  • Kim Purvis – Aurora Decor Interiors,
  • Roger Foster – Tires On The Run,
  • Tara Pickford – Ambition Performing Arts (APA).

The Business of the Year Award is won by a business, that has been operating for at least three years, that best exhibits outstanding achievement in customer service, growth, and community involvement.

This year’s finalists are:

  • BOCC Home Inspections,
  • Grace Family Dental,
  • Happy Paws Veterinary Clinic,
  • Lathered Cleaning Company Inc.,
  • Seven Saints Boutique.

The new Community Attraction Award is given to a business that has been operating for at least two years and has major influence on attracting visitors and residents to engage in the community; making Airdrie a more attractive place to work, live, visit, and play.

This year’s finalists are:

  • 948 Brewing Company Ltd.,
  • Balzac Craft Brewing Company,
  • Color Me Mine,
  • Rival Axe Throwing,
  • Rocket Fizz.

The Emerging Business Award is given to a business that has been operating for less than three years, showing success and demonstrates a connection to the Airdrie community.

This year’s finalists are:

  • Fen Vet, Funky Petals,
  • Revival Therapeutics and Performance,
  • The Beautiful Tooth Company,
  • The Yoga Junction.

The Employer Excellence Award is presented to a business that has been operating for at least two years and goes above and beyond for their employees and provides the best overall place to work.

This year’s finalists are:

  • Airdrie Music Lessons,
  • BrokerLink,
  • Elements Dance Co,
  • Grace Family Dental,

The new Exemplary Service Award is won by a business that has been operating for at least two years and provides an excellent customer service experience. The award will recognize a business that implements one or more major customer services initiatives.

This year’s finalists are:

  • Ambition Performing Arts (APA),
  • My Garage Auto & Tire,
  • Fountain Youth Esthetics & Spa,
  • Tires On The Run,
  • Your Local Ranch Ltd.

The new Greatest Impact Award is given to a business that has been operating for at least two years and has had the largest impact in the community through philanthropy, volunteerism, and overall commitment to making Airdrie a great place to live and do business.

This year’s finalists are:

  • Airdrie Family Eye Doctors,
  • Airdrie Music Lessons,
  • Ambition Performing Arts (APA),
  • Davis Chevrolet GMC Buick
  • Paul’s Pizza.

The Innovation Award is presented to a business that has been operating for at least two years and demonstrates exceptional and transformative innovation and leadership in their processes, products or services.

This year’s finalists are:

  • Airdrie Music Lessons,
  • Modern Elevation,
  • Second Generation Exteriors Contracting Inc.,
  • Shoplift Deals,

The Legacy Business Award is won by a business that is independently owned and operated, has been operating in Airdrie for at least 10 years, has shown sustained growth and contributions to local employment.

This year’s finalists are:

  • Airdrie Automotive Services,
  • Airdrie Music Lessons,
  • Amandamazing Art,
  • Central Health Chiropractic and Wellness Clinic
  • Grace Family Dental.

The winners will be announced at the Airdrie Business Awards Gala on Oct. 21.

“There will be more event details to follow in the coming weeks as we continue to navigate provincial guidelines.” says Aalhus.
