A Fine Balance Catering & Café is undoubtedly an Airdrie favourite.

Like many other establishments, the restaurant that is renowned for its delicious curries is adapting to the “new normal” by offering $5 lunch and dinner options every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11 am to 3 pm.

“We wanted to do something for the community to show our support and that they are not alone, so we came up with the idea of offering pre-packaged meal items and other goodies for $5 per item to cover our costs,” said Nashir Visram, owner of A Fine Balance.

“The idea is a big hit and we plan to continue during these uncertain times.”

The incredibly popular menu includes curry and pasta portions that are big enough to feed two people. Cars are lining up to get in on the incredible deal.

“We wanted to help the community as so many are undergoing hardships and seeing smiles on their faces makes me very happy,” said Visram.

All curries are gluten free, soy free and nut free, although the naan bread contains gluten.

Customers are invited to park at the shop entrance on Main Street between First and Second Avenue NW and order in person. No phone call necessary.

Visram said adapting to the changes brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic has been challenging. He has had to reduce operations by 50 per cent capacity and lay off two staff members.

“I think this is a new paradigm shift and together, with an online platform presence, this is the way of the future,” he said.

“We will continue to expand our menu items keeping the same format, making it affordable, nutritious and tasty. We want people to know that this too shall pass, we are here for them and that they can count on us for support.”
