1. Share one specific personal or professional accomplishment that you believe qualifies you to represent Airdrie residents.

I believe that both my personal and professional experiences—achievements as well as challenges—have shaped me into the leader I am today. These experiences have strengthened my ability to recognize the unique strengths within my team, while also giving me a clear understanding of my own limitations. This self-awareness is essential to fostering collaboration and driving meaningful progress.

Professionally, my time on City Council and my role on the Alberta Municipalities Board of Directors have provided me with a broader perspective on municipal governance. These opportunities have allowed me to engage with communities across the province, learning from their successes and challenges. This exchange of knowledge enables us to bring proven ideas and solutions back to Airdrie, ensuring we continue to grow and evolve in ways that truly benefit our residents.

Through Alberta Municipalities, I’ve been able to elevate Airdrie’s presence at both the provincial and federal levels. Building relationships with MLAs and MPs—across party lines—has been key to ensuring our community is well-positioned for advocacy and support. These connections, combined with ongoing collaboration with municipal colleagues, have deepened my understanding of the issues we face and strengthened my ability to approach them with insight, experience, and a commitment to collective success.

2. What are your top three priorities and why?

Thoughtful Growth Management

Our city is growing—and that can be a good thing. But growth must be guided by intentional, community-minded planning. As we update our Municipal Development Plan and other key documents, we have a unique opportunity to take a holistic look at how we grow. This means identifying where different levels of density make sense, ensuring new developments are well-connected, and aligning growth with infrastructure capacity. Together, we can shape a future that reflects our community’s values and needs.

Economic Resilience

One effective way to support our residential tax rates is by encouraging business growth. By creating more space for unique, non-residential industrial properties, we can begin to shift our tax ratio—helping to ease the burden on residential homeowners without negatively impacting our local small businesses.

This approach not only supports a healthier tax balance, but also boosts job creation within our community. When residents have access to well-paying jobs close to home, it strengthens our local economy in multiple ways. People can spend more of their hard-earned money locally, reduce commute times, and enjoy a better work-life balance.

Additionally, increasing the number of commercial properties can help address the current supply-and-demand imbalance in leasing. With more options available, leasing rates can become more competitive and accessible for businesses looking to establish themselves in our community.

Community Wellness

Building a community that is healthy, well-connected, and supported is essential. While healthcare may not fall directly under municipal jurisdiction, it’s important that we continue to advocate strongly for the health needs of Airdrie.

We’ve seen encouraging progress in acute care over recent years, and Airdrie is well-positioned to push for a North Regional Health Centre and expanded services within our city. A strong, strategic advocacy plan is key to making this a reality.

When it comes to mental health, we must raise awareness about the preventative and treatment options available locally. By working collaboratively with our service organizations, we can ensure Airdrie is front and centre when grant opportunities arise.

From an advocacy standpoint, we need to use our collective voice to emphasize the importance of preventative mental health—especially for our youth. Supporting mental wellness not only improves physical health, but also strengthens our local economy and overall community resilience.

Finally, a community with lots of information is a community that can help to shape their future. I would like to increase communications from the mayor’s office to ensure that residents know what meetings are occurring, how we advocating for you, what outcomes we are seeing and also information about the city organization. Prior to joining council, as a resident, these are things that I would’ve liked to have seen.
