1. Share one specific personal or professional accomplishment that you believe qualifies you to represent Airdrie residents on Airdrie City Council.

I have extensive experience managing people. I have over 15 years of direct supervision over large working groups. I also have over 10 years of oil and gas sales experience managing large value accounts.

From working in oil and gas over the years, I purchased a grain farm seven years ago. I currently run and manage our family farm. I feel with my experience of managing people, managing large value accounts and operating our farm, I have the experience required to represent the city of Airdrie residents.

2. What are your top three priorities and why?

City traffic lights. The city needs some help in keeping traffic flowing. The lights are poorly timed which causes excessive starting and stopping. The main streets, which have the lights on them, are meant to move traffic as efficiently as possible without stopping at every light when you drive through the city.

I would like to see the city’s next recreation centre to be a multi-use facility

For example, Edmonton has some of the newest and nicest multi-use facilities; they include multiple sport venues as well as restaurants, coffee shops and a library. I also feel city council should go to other major cities and look at how other cities are building venues for tomorrow not just today.

I would also like to see the next recreation centre be completed before 2035. I feel the city currently does not have enough places for the kids to play as many families are driving to nearby communities so their children can skate or play other sports because the city of Airdrie’s ice sheets or pool is always rented or in use or at capacity.

The other thing I would like to see happen more quickly would be to open the communication with the province to expedite the next 24-hour urgent care. Our current 24-hour urgent care was built when Airdrie was much smaller, the city is now approaching 100,000 residents and it’s time to expand our healthcare facilities to keep up with our population growth.
