Step past the sprawling corridors of vibrant annuals, through the earthy fragrance of fresh soil, and into a new summer ritual.
Blue Grass Nursery & Garden Centre is transforming its sun-drenched grounds into a bustling hub of local flavour and creativity with the launch of the inaugural Blue Grass Market on July 18 and 19, 25 and 26, and every Saturday and Sunday in August.

For the team behind the scenes, the decision to open their doors to an open-air market felt entirely organic.
“As a business that has always supported local growers and makers, we felt it was the perfect opportunity to create a space where our customers could discover even more local products while visiting the garden centre,” says Lorenza Morden, marketing and events manager at Blue Grass.
Running from 10 am to 4 pm each day, the outdoor market promises a captivating, family-friendly atmosphere that pairs the joy of weekend discovery with the charm of rural Alberta. Visitors can expect a curated, high-energy mix of local businesses, fresh seasonal produce, handcrafted artisan items, and savoury food vendors.
“What I’m most excited about is bringing the community together,” adds Morden.
“There’s something special about meeting people behind the local businesses, discovering unique products and spending a summer day exploring the market and garden centre.”
The beauty of the Blue Grass Market lies in its integration with the facility. Rather than being a standalone pop-up, the market serves as an entry point to a complete summer afternoon outing. Visitors can transition from browsing unique vendor stalls to wandering through the expansive greenhouse, shopping for perennials, trees, shrubs, premium landscape supplies, or selecting the perfect piece of garden décor.
Families will find a welcoming space designed for all generations. Children can explore the interactive Rainbow Play Systems display area, while parents enjoy the diverse on-site food options. Morden adds that they are expecting strong attendance and are looking forward to bridging the gap between loyal customers and passionate local entrepreneurs.
Morden says she hopes people come out to support local businesses, connect with their community, and enjoy a fun summer outing with family and friends. It is an open invitation to explore, taste, and celebrate local enterprise in a setting that is already beautifully in bloom. Learn more at bluegrassnursery.com.
