Membership Directory to Unite and Empower Local Arts Community

Story by Stacie Gaetz

Winter 2024/25

The Airdrie Arts and Culture Council (AACC) recently launched its membership directory.

The directory is a community-centered initiative designed to connect and empower local artists, arts organizations, cultural enthusiasts, and businesses.

“Launching this membership directory is a huge milestone for the AACC,” shared Tara Pickford, chair of the Airdrie Arts and Culture Council.

“It’s more than just a list—it’s a hub for connection, collaboration, and celebration. This directory will not only break down silos but also serve as a key piece in showcasing Airdrie’s incredible depth of talent and creativity.”

Through community-centered membership tiers—Artist, Advocate, Champion, and Companion—the directory offers the resources, advocacy, and collaboration opportunities needed to cultivate a vibrant arts ecosystem in Airdrie.

Inclusive Directory

The membership tiers, beginning as low as $25 annually, cater to interests across the arts and culture space:

• Artist Membership provides individual artists with custom profiles, event promotions, and workshops to develop their craft and enhance visibility.
• Advocate Membership, aimed at businesses and groups, delivers event promotion, sponsorship opportunities, and advertising benefits.
• Champion Membership supports non-profits and community organizations, enabling partnerships and visibility across AACC platforms.
• Companion Membership allows individuals passionate about arts and culture to contribute through donations and attend exclusive events.

Building arts and culture in the city

These initiatives follow the AACC’s recent undertaking of the Annual Airdrie Mayor’s Night of the Arts on February 8. This celebrated gala honoured the incredible contributions of local artists, educators, and organizations.

Additional AACC initiatives launching in 2025 include:

• A Community Arts Calendar – An interactive hub for discovering local arts and culture events.
• Mentorship and Resources – Offering workshops and funding opportunities to support artists and organizations.
• Engaging the Community – From open houses to arts festivals, AACC will continue to create spaces where creativity and connection thrive.

The Airdrie Arts and Culture Council was established in April 2022 in response to a mandate from Airdrie City Council to foster a thriving arts and culture community. The council serves as a strategic body dedicated to addressing funding gaps, advocating for the arts, and inspiring collaboration among local artists, cultural organizations, businesses, and community members.

Acting as both a champion and a connector, the AACC engages with diverse stakeholders to ensure that arts and culture in Airdrie are accessible, celebrated, and sustainable for future generations. Learn more at airdrieartsculturecouncil.com.
