Balzac Christmas Market 2022

Story by Jim Zang

Fall 2022

For more than 20 years now, the Balzac Christmas Market has been celebrating the season by offering locals the kind of unique shopping experience that only a community market can.

“With the amazing feedback and community attendance from last year, the market has expanded its 2022 shopping hours to add Friday shopping!” says Jodanna Frebrowski Chitwood, organizer of the event, who expects to see several hundred people show up over the two-day span.

“The more, the merrier!”

This year’s rendition runs Friday, November 18 from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday, November 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at GYM 403 located at 292120 Wagon Wheel Blvd., Rocky View County and will feature more than 75 vendors, says Frebowski Chitwood. Admission is free, and there’s plenty of parking.

It has been a long-standing market initiative to limit similar type vendors, the majority of whom are home-based and sell their product mostly at markets and online, to keep a unique and wide variety throughout the event, says Frebowski Chitwood.

“There is something for everyone and every age on your list! Products are locally homemade and curated. You will find woodworking, knitting/crochet, baking, sewing, art, clothing, accessories, jewelry, eco friendly products, Christmas decor, Christmas ornaments, bath and body products, pet treats, floral arrangements, and so much more! It’s not uncommon to see jewelers, knitters, crocheters, artists, and more actively working on their craft or customizing their products on the spot for shoppers.”

A few food vendors will be on-hand selling an assortment of delicious treats like baking, breads, candy, cookies, snacks, cakes, fudge, chocolate, and a variety of tasty treats.

Throw in a musical performance from Airdrie up-and-comer Hayley Isabel on Friday from 6:30-7:30, and you’ve got a magical shopping experience that’s fun for the entire family.
