Kudos for Maury Karch

Spring 2023

With nearly 30 years of service with the City of Airdrie, Municipal Enforcement Coordinator Maury Karch has certainly paid his dues.

In fact, no one except Karch himself was surprised when he was presented with the Alberta Peace Officer Long Service Recognition Medal at the Council meeting this past Monday, April 17.

The Service Medal recognizes an officer exceeding 20 years of dedicated service in Alberta Municipal Enforcement.

Karch started his career in 1988, serving the Municipal District of Rocky View No. 44, where he was a special constable in Protective Services from 1993-2005.

He joined the City of Airdrie in 2005 as a Community Peace Officer and in 2017 moved into the role of Municipal Enforcement Coordinator.

Although you may not see him patrolling the community as often as he used to, Karch remains an integral part of the organization, researching emerging issues and assisting the Team Leader with proactive enforcement initiatives.

“It is an absolute pleasure to celebrate Maury’s many years of dedicated service to our community,” says Lynn Mackenzie, Manager, Municipal Enforcement and RCMP Support Services.
