Community Links is inviting Airdrie and area residents to participate in a fun, free event and have a chance to win prizes.

The CoHeart Connections event will allow community residents to gather with their cohorts and make connections in the community.

Registered cohorts of all ages will have the opportunity to be creative and have fun together as they complete tasks and activities designed to allow them to get to know their city a bit more.

“We hope that participants have the ability to connect with their community, learn something new about a part of their community they might not be familiar with and hopefully have a bit of fun doing so,” says Laurie Jacob-Toews, community engagement manager with Community Links.

“We are focusing on cohorts because that leaves it open for anyone to take part. A senior couple, a single adult, a group of teens who are in the same class, a family of parents and their children… any group of people who sees themselves as a cohort can take part.”

She adds that the Community Links team members didn’t want to cancel another event because of COVID-19 restrictions but they weren’t sure what the rules would be around gatherings etc in the early stages of planning the contest, so they decided to create a unique event that could go ahead regardless.

Each registered group will receive a swag bag and a Bingo activity card with the chance to win prizes by completing the tasks and activities, such as playing a certain game, finding a local landmark and giving back to the community in some way.

“Cohorts will be encouraged to complete the tasks and creativity is welcomed and encouraged,” says Jacob-Toews.

“In addition to physically checking off spaces on their Bingo card, participants can also submit images on social media as another way to participate in the event.”

Swag bag quantities are limited, so cohorts are encouraged to register early by clicking here.

Registration will remain open until Oct. 30 and registered cohorts will have until Nov. 30 to complete their tasks.

Prize include $500 worth of gift cards from Cooper’s Promenade (donated by Westmark Holdings Ltd.), a $50 gift card from Sobeys and four $50 certificates from Capture the Flag Paintball. The prize draw date will be Dec. 1.
