Curious about the art of historical sword fighting? Bighorn Historical Combat is hosting an open house this Sunday from 3-5 PM at the Airdrie Martial Arts Center, and you’re invited! Whether you’re a history buff, a fitness enthusiast, or just someone who’s always wanted to swing a sword, this free event is the perfect opportunity to get hands-on experience with other beginners. We’ll introduce some of the historical texts that guide our practice, showcase an array of historical weapons—including but not limited to the longsword, sabre, and messer—and offer mini lessons to give you a taste of what historical fencing feels like.

No experience? No problem. Our expert instructors are here to guide you through the basics in a welcoming and beginner-friendly environment. No special equipment or level of fitness is required—just bring your enthusiasm, a water bottle, and we’ll take care of the rest. This is a great chance to learn, train, and connect with others who share an interest in swords, history, and martial arts.
