Nose Creek Regional Park is set to transform into an arena of wagging tails and competitive spirits on May 30. From 10 am to 2 pm, the community is invited to Bark in the Park, a celebration of Airdrie’s canine companions that promises fun for everyone.

While the event is free to attend and open to all dogs and their humans, the stakes are higher for those seeking official judging, medals, ribbons, and swag bags. To be eligible for these honours, owners must register for a Dog Olympics Competitor Pass. Organizers are calling all fast, agile, and super-smart dogs in Airdrie to see if they have what it takes to take home the gold.
“It is a lighthearted day where pets and their owners can participate in low-pressure contests like a talent show, fashion show, obedience trials, and a high jump,” says Vanessa Logan, president of the Kiwanis Club of Airdrie Foothills.
“You don’t need a four-legged friend to join the fun! Whether you’re entering your pup in the Dog Olympics or just want to come down to cheer on the local talent, everyone is welcome.”
This is the fourth year Kiwanis Club of Airdrie Foothills has hosted this event and this year’s highlight is the official Dog Olympics, where the city’s pups will compete for glory.
For the speedsters, the Fastest Dog event features a straight sprint to the finish line. Those with vertical talent can test their limits in the High Jump to see how high they can soar. Discipline and focus will be put to the ultimate test in the Sit, Stay & Leave It category. Not all competition is physical; the Fashion Show invites dogs to strut their stuff in their best costume, while the Talent Show provides a stage for dogs to show off their most impressive trick.
The event also serves as a fundraiser for Kiwanis Club of Airdrie Foothills.
“It’s a fundraiser dedicated to helping the children in our community. Every dollar raised goes directly toward providing local kids with the resources they need to thrive,” says Logan.
“One hundred percent of the funds raised go toward essential community needs, such as providing proper shoes for students in school and gifting books to newborn babies. Come enjoy the sunshine, meet your neighbours, and help us raise funds for kids in our community — with or without a dog in tow!”
Whether competing for a spot on the podium or simply enjoying a free day at Nose Creek Regional Park, Bark in the Park is the place to be on May 30.
