1. Share one specific personal or professional accomplishment that you believe qualifies you to represent Airdrie residents on Airdrie City Council.
I have held senior leadership roles and board positions with private and public corporations for the past 25 years. My experience has given me the opportunity to advocate for what is needed to be successful, listen to and understand the needs of stakeholders and make critical decisions to guide the direction of these organizations. I am not averse to challenging the current status quo. I hear what Airdronians want, and I will push to achieve our needs for the future.
2. What are your top three priorities and why?
Independence from Calgary’s essential infrastructure. As our population continues to grow, we need to be in control of our essential services and not rely on Calgary. I will advocate for provincial funding and support for a hospital and water treatment facility.
Population growth management. Our schools are crowded, pools and skating rinks are lacking, and our downtown is in need of an uplift. While our population will continue to grow, we need to manage our housing starts until we can provide the essential services required to sustain our residents’ needs.
Advocate for small business and youth employment. Local businesses are critical to the quality of life in Airdrie. These include after-school programs, sports programs and clubs, music and the arts, restaurants, automotive repairs and many more that I won’t list to keep it short. We need to create a more favourable environment for these businesses to operate. This can include faster permitting and less red tape, youth employment grants and access to commercial space that suits them.
