Story by Stacie Gaetz

Winter 2024/25

Grab your gown or slap on your suit because Airdrie’s premier event dedicated to celebrating our local arts community is taking place at Bert Church Theatre on February 8.

Presented by Airdrie Arts and Culture Council, this annual gala is not just an event; it’s a testament to the vibrant, dynamic cultural landscape that thrives within our city.

Set against Airdrie’s stunning artistic achievements, the Mayor’s Night of the Arts brings artists, patrons, educators, and enthusiasts together for an evening of recognition, inspiration, and community spirit.

“It’s an opportunity to spotlight the individuals and groups who have elevated our arts scene, making Airdrie a beacon of creativity and cultural diversity,” reads a statement on the Mayor’s Night of the Arts website.

Since its inception in 2015, this prestigious event has been dedicated to recognizing, celebrating, and sharing the diverse talents of Airdrie’s arts community with everyone in our city.

Recognizing the power of the arts to inspire, educate, and bring people together, the event quickly became a highlight of the city’s cultural calendar. Over the years, it has grown in scope and impact, attracting attention from across the city and beyond, and has become a cherished tradition that artists and art lovers alike eagerly anticipate.

Each year, the Mayor’s Night of the Arts presents awards in several categories, including Patron of the Arts Award, Champion of the Arts Award, Professional Artists Award, Emerging Artists Award, Arts Educator Award and Youth Artist Award.

“These awards are a testament to the dedication, talent, and creativity of A  irdrie’s arts community, and they serve as a reminder of the essential role that art plays in our lives,” according to the website.

This year’s event will also feature performances by Gabrial Morris, Alicia Woynarski, Moressy’s Private Stock, Kyle McKearney, Star Bound Dance Company, Ryan Jade and more.

“The Mayor’s Night of the Arts is more than just an awards ceremony—it’s a community gathering that celebrates the heart and soul of Airdrie’s creative spirit.”
