Summer 2023

The Airdrie Horticultural Society’s fourth annual Garden Tour is August 12 from 1 to 3 p.m.

“Last year we had over 50 attendees on the tour,” says Rosa West, president of the local group.

There are usually five to six gardens in the tour, she says.

“It is not a competition but an opportunity to see gardens in our communities. We started these tours in this format to inspire our local gardeners and to give gardeners an opportunity to share their pride in their gardens and their experiences. It’s a great motivator for many!

“The first year of the tour was 2020 (during COVID), and it proved to be a great way for people to get out and see other people safely, and an opportunity for the Horticultural Society to do something positive at that time for our community.”

The cost is $10 per person, with inquiries and payments made via email to airdriegardens@outlook.com.

Attendees receive an email with the addresses and a short description of each garden the night before the tour, which is self-guided so that people can participate at their leisure. Horticultural Society members will be on hand to greet visitors at each garden.

Once you’ve got the addresses and are on your way, just look for the spinning sunflowers to mark the locations.
