This issue’s makeover is all in the eye of the beholder…
We asked readers to tell us why they needed new frames and Cindy O’Hara, a widow and single mom, needed a new outlook, given that her frames were overdue for an update.
Off to Mitch and Stacie Dubé at the Eye Warehouse, who offered our winner a chance to try on new specs.

“The No. 1 thing that I believe people need to know when picking out glasses is that, with the modern technology we have for lenses, the old-school rules of ‘certain faces should stick to certain shapes’ are out the window,“ says Mitch. “We do have guidelines we want to stay around with each prescription and that is still in the back of our opticians’ minds, but the most important thing honestly is that the patient feels excellent in the frame. If the patient doesn’t feel great, then it’s the wrong choice. “
O’Hara was over the moon with the results.
“I have a habit of going back to what feels ‘safe’ — the typical frames I always go to,” she says. “To me Mitch, his wife and staff offered me great opinions. They are the professionals, so I went with their opinions. So knowledgeable, friendly and [they] explained everything to me in detail during the picking and afterwards when I was sized.”
O’Hara ended up with not one, but two pairs of new glasses, one pair for daily use and a pair of “classy” sunglasses with her prescription.

“This was an amazing experience, and I want to thank everyone for this wonderful gift and the opportunity to play with glasses and have some laughs with everyone,” she says.
