The local Filipino community is bringing a cultural celebration to Airdrie for the first time ever for Filipino Heritage Month in June.

Event organizer Jovelyn Inocando says the celebration will share a glimpse of Filipino culture with the Airdrie community through authentic food and traditional performances. “It is our way of showing and sharing our Filipino traditions through arts, dance, songs and cuisine,”says Inocando. “It also gives us an opportunity to honour and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Filipino community in Canada.” Inocando says it will shed light on cultural diversity, resilience and unity.

“This event and celebration [are] very important to us because it fosters a sense of pride and belonging within the Filipino community,” she says. “It’s not just about cultural celebration. It’s about recognition and reflection.” Follow @welcomingairdrie on Facebook.
