Despite the very unamazing weather that day, the 16th annual airdrielife/Melcor Amazing Airdrie Women Awards was a sweet success on April 25.
275 guests filled the Bert Church Theatre lobby to enjoy live cello music, prosecco and “sweet sixteen” themed appetizers, along with a very popular chocolate tasting bar with locally handcrafted chocolates. Guests gathered at the “glam activation” stations, snapped pics in their amazing shades by the paparazzi balloons and wrote notes on the wall of wisdom, all before heading in for the awards.
But first the incredible talents of Six Minute Warning gave the audience a thrilling set of boy band tunes acapella style, and then the awards began.
By the time the evening had wrapped the 77 women honoured tonight join a total 673 women who are now part of the Amazing Airdrie Women Her-story.
This year’s charity, Wings of Hope received $2000 in proceeds from ticket sales to support women in breast cancer recovery. The Tracy Work Pay-it-forward Fund created by Doreen Kliesinger and Emma and Kayla Work and supported by Pureform Radiology also saw $1500 put back into the community as each recipient selects a charity to have $100 donated in their name.
