1.  What has this first year with a new council taught you?

It has taught me that it is okay to slow down again, learn along side the new members.   Although as a long time Councillor I feel like I have a good base of knowledge, things still change and priorities shift. We need to have an open mind to new and changing perspectives.

2.  What has been your biggest success this year?

The biggest success of the year is difficult to pinpoint. I think the largest win for all of Airdrie is the new Covenant facility that will see our residents no longer have to leave our community for life saving procedures like dialysis or the safety in knowing a birthing center is minutes away.

I am also very happy with the cost savings on our new rec facility long term, and our ability to deliver that facility as a whole rather than phasing it long term.

3.  What do you feel is your biggest challenge in the next year?

The biggest challenge I see is that rapid growth comes with immediate pressures. We will soon see our tax base start to pay for services and facilities that our comparable communities also have. With that comes comparable tax rates and fees.
