Airdrie Pro Rodeo

Rodeo enthusiasts and cowboys and cowgirls can dust off their boots and hit the grounds for five days of action at the Airdrie Pro Rodeo this year. The annual event in June will showcase all the popular rodeo events, including crowd favourites like junior rodeo performances and bull riding, says Leanne Grenier, secretary of the Airdrie Pro Rodeo committee.
“While the Calgary Stampede can draw a lot of fans, the Airdrie Pro Rodeo offers a more personal and intimate feel to our rodeo performances,” says Grenier. “We have all the same events and the same calibre of cowboys and cowgirls. You can enjoy the bleacher side or bring a lawn chair or blanket and sit on the hillside to experience our amazing performances.”
The rodeo weekend kicks off with family days June 27 and 28, followed by the pro rodeo June 29, June 30 and July 1, providing fun for the whole family.
“We really encourage families to come and enjoy a day to watch the youth that are up and coming in the sport of rodeo,” says Grenier. “This year, we are extending the junior rodeo to two days.” Rodeo admission for adults is $25, and kids 10 and under get in to the grounds for free. Admission is $20 for youth aged 11 to 17 and seniors 65 and older. Tickets include entrance to the beer gardens and cabaret.
Those wanting to attend the cabaret only can get tickets for $10. “We are showcasing local artist Brandon Lorenzo as live entertainment. He’s coming back for a second year, and we cannot wait to have him,” says Grenier. “Saturday, as it is geared towards families, will allow youth to stay later to enjoy the show. However, Tuesday will be 18-plus for his show.”
