A Night of Feathers and Flash: The Rocket Man Lands at Polaris Theatre

Story by Stacie Gaetz

Winter 2025/26

The sequins are polished, the feathers are meticulously prepped, and the sound system is dialed in for maximum impact. If you think you’ve seen a tribute act before, think again. The Elton John Tribute Concert with Cyril Tenjohn on March 7 isn’t just a stroll down memory lane; it is a high-octane, Vegas-style spectacle landing right in the heart of Rocky View County.

When Cyril Tenjohn & The Husky Tower Band take the stage at the Polaris Theare, they aren’t just playing the hits — they are transporting the audience into the flamboyant, technicolor world of one of music’s greatest icons. It’s a production that has rapidly evolved from a simple birthday tribute into a touring powerhouse, recently crowned as the Winner of the 2025 Live Performer of the Year at the YYC Music Awards.

Carlos Foggin, general manager of the venue, says bringing a show of this calibre to this theatre is a gamechanger for local fans. While the group typically performs in the gritty, high-energy atmosphere of bars and clubs, the transition to a professional theatre allows the artistry to truly shine.

“Bringing the act to a soft-seat theatre where the music and the show is front-and-centre, (as well as our enhanced capabilities with lighting and our phenomenal Meyer sound system) is definitely a different vibe,” Foggin adds.

He notes that the venue’s reputation is growing among touring acts who specifically seek out Polaris for its “beautiful Steinway piano, the awesome sound system, and the laid-back vibe of the whole space.”

The show is a masterclass in theatricality. Audiences can expect six costume changes, five professional band members, and enough smoke and lights to rival a residency on the Strip. It is designed to be a sensory overload in the best way possible.

“There are costume changes, feather boas, and more,” Foggin says, highlighting the most exciting and unexpected elements of the performance.

“Lots of smoke and lights. A Vegas-style show right here in Rocky View!”

While the production value is sky-high, the core of the evening remains the music. The show appeals to a wide demographic — from die-hard Elton John fans who know every lyric to those simply looking for an excuse to put on their dancing shoes.

“This show will appeal to anyone who loves the music of Elton John or just a great party!” says Foggin.

Beyond the music and the feathers, the venue experience is designed for maximum comfort and enjoyment. Attendees don’t have to worry about the typical headaches of a night out; there is free parking and a great bar that remains open for the duration of the show.

If you’re looking for a reason to step out, Foggin sums it up simply: “The music is going to be fabulous!”
