Imagine searching for a place where you belong, and not finding it. For many adults with developmental disabilities, that is a reality. Days can feel long, quiet, and lonely. Opportunities for friendship and connection are rare. Safety and many other barriers keep doors closed. Without spaces like URSA Airdrie, individuals risk living in isolation, without supports, without opportunities for friendship, and without the simple joy of being part of community life.
That’s why URSA exists. Since 1985, we’ve been Daring. Caring. Sharing. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to develop and provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities to attain a personal level of achievement and excellence in life. In Airdrie, our North Stars day program is a safe, accessible space where individuals are seen, supported, and invited in. Belonging isn’t a luxury, it’s a lifeline.
Programming at North Stars is tailored to the person. We design supports that respond to strengths, interests, and needs, so participation feels safe, meaningful, and achievable. And when that happens, something beautiful follows: a smile replaces silence, a shared laugh turns into a friendship, and confidence grows where fear once lived.
Winning airdrielife’s advertising package would help us deepen these connections across Airdrie all year. It would allow us to:
Reach families and caregivers who don’t yet know URSA Airdrie exists in the area and clearly show how to access support.
Share impact stories that reduce stigma and encourage everyday inclusion, reminding Airdronians that a warm welcome can open a door.
Strengthen collaboration with local organizations and businesses so individuals have more accessible, community-based opportunities to participate and practice skills.
Promote low-barrier ways to connect, from simple drop-in moments to small, interest-driven activities that fit real lives.
URSA’s vision for Airdrie is bold: community doesn’t stop at the door, it opens it. With your support, we’ll keep building a city where individuals are welcomed, supported, and invited in, one connection at a time.
Daring. Caring. Sharing. That’s URSA, and that’s the Airdrie we’re creating together.
