
Veterans Memorial Dedication Ceremony

The City of Airdrie invites the community to attend the official dedication of the Veterans Memorial. This meaningful ceremony will honour the courage, sacrifice and service of local Veterans.
Date: Sept. 20, 2025
Time: 1 – 2 p.m.
Location: Veterans Boulevard Nautical Flag Pole (along Veterans Boulevard near 8 st.)
Parking: Parking is very limited. Attendees are encouraged to use active transportation such as walking, biking or scootering where possible.
The Veterans Memorial, developed in collaboration with the Royal Canadian Legion #288 Airdrie and the Army, Navy and Airforce Veterans in Canada (ANAVETS), features custom-designed artistic pieces inspired by the stories of local Veterans. It includes:
• 22 metal banners mounted on light poles along Veterans Boulevard
• 30 metal railing panels along the sidewalk leading to the Veterans Boulevard pedestrian underpass
• Two artistic benches on either side of the Veterans Boulevard pedestrian underpass
• Two life-sized silhouettes located on the corners of Veterans and 8 St and Veterans and Main St.
• One nautical flagpole located near 8 St. along Veterans Boulevard
• Two painted sidewalks located by the Royal Canadian Legion #288 Airdrie and Field of Valour Park
The City, along with the Royal Canadian Legion #288, gratefully acknowledge the Government of Alberta for its contribution towards development of the Veterans Memorial as well as Veterans Affairs Canada for its contribution towards the memorial’s dedication ceremony.
