Canada Day: The Airdrie Way

Story by Stacie Gaetz

Summer 2025

There is no need to leave the city to celebrate your national pride on July 1. With dozens of exciting events, the 2025 Canada Day in Airdrie promises to be one to remember.

Grab your red and white gear and get ready for a day full of fun for the whole family.

Canada Day Parade

Start the day off right at 10 am at the Canada Day Parade in downtown Airdrie. With floats, bands, and participants from local businesses and community groups, this annual event never disappoints.

The first Canada Day parade was organized by the Airdrie Pro Rodeo committee in 1967 and is currently organized by the non-profit organization Airdrie Parades. Watch up to 100 floats gliding throughout the streets joined by 30,000 parade goers.

Gather the family and grab your blankets, lawn chairs and refreshments to enjoy the variety of unique displays. Learn more at airdrieparades.com.

Celebrate Canada Day Downtown

Stay after the parade to explore downtown for a day packed with special promotions, sizzling barbecues and unique offerings from amazing local businesses and organizations.

Check out the City of Airdrie website for an interactive map that shows you where to go and how to get there. Whether you’re hunting for great deals, craving delicious food, or just want to soak up the vibrant atmosphere, local shops have something for everyone.

To make Canada Day an enjoyable experience for all, the City of Airdrie encourages you to get to the events on bikes, transit, e-scooters or on foot, and limit the use of parking spaces.

Airdrie CultureFest – A Multicultural Celebration

From 11 am to 6 pm at Nose Creek Regional Park, the Airdrie CultureFest Committee will host the city’s second-annual multicultural community festival showcasing and celebrating Airdronians from all walks of life.

“Everyone wanted the same thing, to create a multicultural event festival to showcase and celebrate the rich and diverse tapestry of the communities and people who make Airdrie amazing,” says Airdrie CultureFest Society President Kimberley Glass.

Enjoy live music and performances, beer gardens, delicious food, cultural activities, and experience Airdrie’s vibrantly diverse communities. Visit continents across the world throughout the park, including Europe, Africa, Asia, North America and South America.

“Each pavilion will have its own stage for performers, with music and dance,” says Glass.

“Each will provide food choices from that culture. And there will be vendors sharing crafts and services that are particular to each culture.

“What we really want to cultivate is a welcoming and embracing environment which our global groups have created for us. A place for people to feel safe asking question and learning through conversation what makes us unique.”

Bring your flag and celebrate what makes Airdrie an amazing place to live. Learn more at airdrieculturefest.com.

Airdrie Pro Rodeo

Immerse yourself in cowboy culture with an action-packed schedule of events at Airdrie Rodeo Grounds.

“Don’t be afraid to put on the cowboy boots and the shirt and get a cowboy hat and come with an open mind,” says Lori Young, Airdrie Pro Rodeo volunteer.

“When you get dust on you, you get to see the cowboy or cowgirl’s expression and, before you realize, you’re cheering them on, and you’re just as invested as they are.”

This annual event is organized by the Airdrie Rodeo Ranch Association, a not-for-profit, 100 percent volunteer-driven group. The event includes live entertainment, beer gardens, family activities and much more. Learn more at airdrierodeo.com.

Canada Day Fireworks

Cap the night off with a spectacular show that will light up the night sky from 10:45 to 11:05 pm at Chinook Winds Regional Park. This 20-minute brilliant and dazzling artistic light performance will be enjoyed by all.

Grab blankets, lawn chairs and snacks to watch the show from one of the many vantage points around the area such as Windsong Heights School, Coopers Crossing School, Living Springs Church and Daybreak Church.
