The BCLT is excited to present another memorable season of live entertainment, with more than 25 great shows booked. The new season kicks off Sept. 13 with Alberta’s own Aaron Goodvin, who has been nominated for three Canadian Country Music Awards this year. This amazing show is followed by a must-see, one-of-a-kind show: drum legend Terry Bozzio. Unless you’ve seen him perform, you have no idea what you’re in for; he is a unique, intense and dynamic performer on the largest tuned drum and percussion set in the world!
October and November offer a great variety of shows, including an entertaining fringe theatre performance, The Unsyncables. Next up, Jake’s Gift, a surprisingly funny, multi-award-winning drama about a Canadian WW2 veteran. Also Delhi 2 Dublin, a fantastic electronic, bhangra, hip-hop hybrid music band that you don’t want to miss. For our country fans, Lisa Brokop, the Legend of George Jones by Duane Steele, and The Wardens, will have boots tapping.
Grab your best friend for an adults’ night out with Anne Marie Scheffler in one of her sharpest, funniest and most moving shows: MILF Life Crisis, a hysterical comedy about MILFs, DILFs and being free every other weekend.
To fill you with the spirit of Christmas, Heather Rankin will present Picture Perfect Christmas in December. Maritime lovers can also transport themselves to an East Coast kitchen party with the Derina Harvey Band, a Celtic rock group that offers music and storytelling with a side of humour. And right before Christmas Eve, bring the whole family to enjoy a wonderful and cozy Christmas concert with the delightful Fred Penner.
Get pumped up in the new year with The Cheesecake Burlesque Revue girls, armed with a sassy-silliness and a g-force of glitter. Their show packs a sparkly punch that will make your heart happy and leave you loving the skin you’re in! But not everything is glitter and dance on the Bert Church stage: Spidey, a mentalist, will freak out the crowd with his eerie mental demonstrations bordering on the supernatural in his mind-blowing and hilarious “make believe” performance.
We know Airdrie loves guitar shows, fiddlers and tenors and that’s why we’re bringing back some favourites: Montreal Guitar Trio and California Guitar Trio, Prairie Mountain Fiddlers and The Celtic Tenors.
And right before Valentine’s Day, we’ll be presenting one of Canada’s preeminent voices in music today, Matthew Good. The fabulous Luke McMaster with his latest solo Icons of Soul, and the award-winning country music entertainer Trevor Panczak, will be performing at the theatre. To celebrate the timeless and uplifting music of ABBA, ABRA Cadabra will perform in April.
For families, the Will’s Jams Live Show with his Backyard Band will be at the theatre in February, followed by the Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Show, a spectacular two-act dance act with 44 amazing dancers that are sure to entertain, in March. Closing up this amazing season, in May Nose Creek Players will present Charlotte’s Web, a beautifully crafted story about the power of friendship, empathy and resilience.
In addition to the performance in the theatre, we are offering something completely new – our lobby shows series. Enjoy listening to two wonderful performers: Tanner James (December) and Maddie Storvold (February), in our lobby, with only 70 seats available for each performance. Bring your friends and/or your significant other, grab something from our bar, and enjoy a night of live music in an intimate setting.
Come to Bert Church Theatre and enjoy a night out with your friends and family, right in your own city. Our professional-grade sound and lighting systems and beautiful renovated bar, combined with the charm of a small-city venue that provides an up-close-and-personal experience, plus our free parking, is sure to make your night amazing.
