Airdrie City council recently endorsed revisions to Airdrie Transit user fees, which will come into effect Sept. 1.

“Transit fares have remained unchanged since 2018. However, our cost to provide the service has increased,” said Chris MacIsaac, team leader of Airdrie Transit.

“These changes will allow us to provide affordable transit at our current level of service or enhanced service on many routes.”

For $5 a route 900 ticket allows riders to go anywhere in Airdrie and connects to CrossIron Mills Mall and into northeast Calgary to Rundle LRT.

The cost of an adult monthly passes for local service and Route 900 are staying the same, with the downtown commuter pass seeing a $10 reduction. The monthly pass continues to provide great value for transit riders.

According to a City of Airdrie press release, this change moves Airdrie Transit towards a cost recovery model where those who benefit from using public transit services, contribute more to increase the cost recovery of the benefit.

Starting Sept. 1, Airdrie Transit will increase the frequency of service for local routes, the downtown route will see an additional morning and afternoon service, while route 900 will not see a change.
