SUMMARY:Modern Brush Calligraphy
DESCRIPTION:Learn this very popular brush lettering style which is excellent for beginners as well.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nEnjoy this fast-paced workshop and learn the fluid and graceful lettering script of brush calligraphy. You will learn the basics strokes that make up the entire alphabet by applying and releasing pressure on the brush pen(s) provided. Participants will be encouraged to develop their own style by longtime calligrapher BerylAnne Hodgins\, as she demonstrates the various applications this script is capable of. Great alphabet for anyone to learn as no previous experience in lettering is required. This workshop is offered by BerylAnne Hodgins\, owner of Letter Perfect Calligraphy. With over 35 years experience in lettering and a fun and energetic approach to teaching\, you will be shown: a) the variety of tools that are available for this script b) basic strokes that form the alphabet\, numbers\, ampersands and some elegant flourishes c) exercises to keep your movements fluid e) individual upper and lower case letter formation \nALL supplies are included: a) Set of two black Tombow Fudenesuko brush pens (one hard and one soft tip) with flexible brush tip that provides optimal control\, as well as the ability to create varied line widths without needing to switch pens. DESCRIPTION:Perfect workshop for those who are interested in learning the basics of abstract alcohol ink techniques and want to experiment and play.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nNEW WORKSHOP FOR SPRING 2022 \nHave you ever wondered “what’s all the stink about ALCOHOL INK?” Well\, this is your opportunity to find out and I promise it’s an amazing medium to explore. Alcohol ink is an acid-free\, vividly-colored\, alcohol-based dye that is liquid\, translucent and fast drying. It is best used on non-porous surfaces (e.g. ceramics\, synthetic papers\, glass\, etc). \nVersatile\, unpredictable\, mesmerizing\, relaxing and affordable! Alcohol ink art spans across talent levels and experience because it’s not really a medium that lends itself well to being controlled – which is why is perfect for beginners and established artists alike. There are always happy accidents that delight and surprise. No matter what you think of your creativity\, everyone will make something beautiful during this workshop; but keep in mind that creating art is not about producing a product rather it’s about enjoying and learning through the process of unexpected discoveries ! \nThis introductory class with alcohol ink is ABSTRACT not conceptual so we will not be focusing on how to paint landscapes or specific objects with the ink\, just how to mix and move colours in various techniques that you can further experiment with on your own. Not to say that you won’t be discovering some amazing backgrounds magically appearing as you move the ink on your paper or items that look like florals etc.! \nEnjoy the simple process of dripping ink onto synthetic paper\, glass and ceramic tiles\, tilt and swirl it\, blow it with a straw for a dazzling effect\, feather it\, blend it with metallic mixatives for a rich shimmer\, learn resist techniques that can transform your art to another level\, play with products before you run out to purchase them\, add texture by using felt\, circle chains\, spritzing with spray bottles\, LET’S PLAY WITH INK! \nOn hand to test and try out will be the blow dryer method of moving ink\, giotto rocket\, as well as an airbrush. and many colours of ink to sample! We will also learn how to seal projects when finished because alcohol ink can fade and be reactivated if left without a finish. NOTE: We will be using 91% isopropyl alcohol which does have a strong odor (VOC). \nAll supplies necessary for this workshop are provided in the registration fee but if you have some of your own items that you want to bring to class\, please do so. SUMMARY:Bicycle Rim Wreath Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Create a beautiful wreath using a coloured bicycle rim and wood word overlay and a variety of florals/greenery.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nLet’s get the wheels turning on this amazing popular spring workshop! \nChoose a white\, royal blue\, black\, red\, rust brown\, aluminum or yellow metal wheel rim for your base (approximately 17″ round) and then decorate to your heart’s content. \nAdding flowers\, greenery\, ribbons\, little birds\, butterflies\, dragonflies\, wheat\, pussy willows\, etc.\, you can definitely make this piece totally unique. You have a choice for your word overlay (ie: Welcome\, Hello\, Home\, Blessed\, Smile\, Family\, OR you can use a small wooden birdhouse instead) which you can also paint or even decoupage in your choice of colour or pattern. The overlay is cut out of baltic birch and is approximately 14″ – 17″ long. \nSO MANY POSSIBILITIES are wrapped up in this colourful and springy new workshop that has been a real hit in the past! \nEverything is supplied (and we have tons of florals to choose from) for this workshop so just come prepared to have some creative fun. No experience at all is necessary. We will be working with paint and hot glue so dress accordingly. DESCRIPTION:Everyone has a cell phone so let’s make two holder(s) for it which also doubles for a business card display! One for you and one for a gift.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nYou will be given two blank wooden card/phone holders which you can paint and decorate in any way you want. \nThis is such a creative little workshop because it’s limitless what you can do to decorate these holders. Add pictures\, mini-frames\, words\, sayings\, business information\, photos\, jewels\, gems\, shattered glass\, memorabilia\, paint\, decoupage – see what I mean! \nThen we coat it all with a thin layer of resin and let that cure overnight. \nIf you want to use this display stand as a business card holder\, it holds approximately 20 business cards. \nOverall size: 3 1/8″ x 5 1/8″ (with 3/8″ slot for cards/phone) \nIf you want small photos\, logos or sayings printed out for you on waterslide paper\, please contact your Creative Coach BerylAnne prior to the workshop and make arrangements for that to be provided for you. DESCRIPTION:Create your very own personalized wood round sign for your door or home or make as a gift for some other lucky person!\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nCome create this very trendy sign which can be displayed on your front door or just inside your entryway. If you want\, make it as a gift just in time for spring! \nEach person will be provided with a blank 18″ sanded baltic birch wood blank round to paint or stain in your own colour combination. Vinyl stencils with your wording choices will be made in advance for you to use in class so please be thinking about what you want your sign to say. These stencils eliminate the anxiety of thinking you have to be a lettering artist to get a beautiful flawless finish. If you want some inspiration\, head over to Pinterest for door sign ideas and be prepared to be amazed at what people are doing….send that info to our Studio\, and we will help you make it a reality (within reason of course 🙂 \nYou will then be able to paint your stenciled lettering in your choice of colour(s) to match your overall theme. A large variety of ribbons\, florals\, greenery and embellishments are available to finish off the look you want to achieve. There will be a variety of printed “samples” of others’ boards to get you started or give you inspiration to begin your own design. No experience is necessary as our Creative Coach will guide everyone through each step in the process of their design. \nCareful: This craft is totally addictive! \nAll supplies are included in the price of the registration. DESCRIPTION:Create numerous small projects using resin while having access to the expertise of your instructor and the supplies in the Teaching Studio.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI am a RESIN junkie…I am totally hooked on its amazing versatility and beauty and if you’ve ever taken a workshop where you’ve experimented with it\, then perhaps you are too! It’s so unpredictably exciting and is uber-popular for a reason. \nThis NEW workshop is seriously going to be amazing as it allows you to play with resin on a variety of smaller projects all in one session. We are going to pour\, drizzle\, mix\, add mica powder and swirl\, add gemstones\, coloured glass\, pressed flowers\, glitter\, metallic foils\, learn how mix pigments\, etc.\, – well you get it! This workshop is not meant as just a teaching session as I am assuming everyone who attends will have some basic idea of what resin is and how it works. This allows us to then concentrate on creating/playing as opposed to teaching basic resin skills. \nThere will be a wonderful variety of mini projects that YOU can choose from based on a Dollar/Point system. Your registration fee of $75 gives you 75 Resin Points to redeem and each project will be assigned a point “cost.” If you spend all your points quickly\, then you have the option of purchasing more OR if you have left-over points\, you can carry them forward to the next Resin PLAY Day workshop. \nHere’s an overview of what’s available for you to choose from: \n1. Tile Coasters (alcohol ink) and then sealed in resin OR do a direct pour on the tiles \n2. Magnets 3. Bookmarks 4. Various shapes of acrylic blanks which can be used as ornaments\, place cards\, name tags\, key chains 5. Small plastic containers with lids 6. Frame with mirror insert 7. Jewelry holder (ring) 8.
