SUMMARY:Swim for Hope Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:NCSA is home to over 300 swimmers in Airdrie and Calgary. Despite our large numbers\, we are a tight knit family who takes care of their own during times of need or hardship. Every year the Giving Back committee is tasked with organizing an event for our swimmers to give back to their community in one way or another. Past events have included community cleanups\, etc. \nFor 2025\, the Giving Back committee has chosen to host a Swim for Hope charity fundraiser in order to raise funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research. We will also be hosting a blood drive as part of the event (more details to follow on the blood drive).The event is in honour of 2 NCSA swimmers who were an integral part of our program. Julian Ho lost his battle to cancer in December 2021 at the age of 15 and Caleb Sharpe\, who graduated from NCSA in 2022\, passed away in December of that same year. These young men were deeply loved and respected by our community and this event will help honour their memory while supporting a cause that impacts countless families. 100% of the funds raised will go directly to paediatric cancer research. \nEvent Details: The event will take place at the following locations on April 29 and April 30 2025 as each time and location will be a different age group of swimmers: \nApril 29: \n\nMNP Community & Sports Centre\, Calgary 5:30-7am\nGenesis Place Aquatic Centre\, Airdrie 5:30-6:30pm\nThornhill Aquatic Centre\, Calgary\, NW 5-6pm\n\nApril 30: \n\nVivo for Healthier Generations Pool\, Calgary\, NW 5:30-7am AND 4:15-6:15pm\nGenesis Place Aquatic Centre\, Airdrie 4:30-6:30pm\nThornhill Aquatic Centre\, Calgary\, NW 4-6pm\n\nDuring the events\, the swimmers will swim continuously during the allotted time to swim as many laps as possible. Swimmers are currently collecting pledges from friends and family.
