Q: How do horses help humans heal?
A: Horses as prey animals have a very specific natural way they survive, which allows them to be highly sensitive and tuned in to the stimuli around them. Their ability to read their environment and then respond quickly allows them to observe the inner state of another without judgment and to offer support and guidance to those individuals who are open to essentially looking into a 1,000-pound mirror. No horse experience is necessary, as this is not riding lessons! Everyone can receive the benefits from integration between our thoughts, emotions and the body while accessing the inner most parts of ourselves. Horses when in a natural environment are essentially living truth detectors! From transformational horsemanship practices to youth programs or deep reflective sessions depending on the needs and goals of the individual, horses help humans become more connected mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically to ourselves and the world around us.

Q: I have to attend an outdoor wedding this summer. How do I accessorize? Is there a difference between this and a formal indoor wedding?
A: Summer outdoor weddings are often less formal than indoor weddings and dresses boast floral prints and brighter colours. Ladies may not want to feel weighted down by their accessories when the heat of the summer is upon them. Wearing our Aurelia pendant and earrings and matching them with a few of our bangles is a great way to make a beautiful jewelry statement without being too heavy. Our summer line has a variety of pendants that can be worn in multiple ways and can convert to long or short depending on the neckline of your dress. Our jewels are made with many kinds of media and colours of stones and there will definitely be something to suit everyone’s style this wedding season!

Q: When should I first have my child’s eyes checked?
A: I advise eye exams before the age of one. Alberta Health Care covers eye exams for children. Optometrists can screen babies for major eye diseases, such as cancer and cataracts, as well as checking eye alignment issues, issuing necessary prescriptions and ensuring eyes are working well together. If caught early enough, many vision concerns are correctable – it is important for their future vision.
