A few of our favourite places to grab a bite, a glass of vino or a coffee and let someone else do the dishes!
Good Earth Coffeehouse is more than a coffeehouse; it has become Airdrie’s unofficial arts hub, featuring live music and a rotating display of local art on the walls. It is also the meet-up place for everyone, from knitters to painters, writers and musicians. The outdoor patio in the summer is a bonus as is the beer and wine menu after 5 p.m.
Rose Rosse/Ilforno offers true Italian cuisine at its tucked-away location with two levels of flavour on Kingsview Boulevard. Upstairs, it’s fine dining with fresh pastas, succulent steak and veal and seafood. Downstairs, the ilforno oven takes centre stage, providing authentic pizzas and Italian twists on your favourite luncheon items.
A Fine Balance is primarily a catering company, but thankfully for those of us who love Indian food, a daily luncheon menu (they now have a few tables so you can stay and eat in) provides savory dishes such as chicken tikka and of course the butter chicken that has become the talk of the city. A lot of people show up around 5 pm. until 7:30 (closing) to grab samosas, curries and our newest discovery – samosa chips to take home. They have fresh and frozen entrees and a daily curry bar. Owner Nash Vikram has also been sourcing and developing his own line of organic herbs and spices that you can purchase for your at-home creations.
Abe’s Restaurant is known as “fas-cas” – that’s right, fast casual. Fresh food, served fast, in a modern American diner setting. Enjoy award-winning burgers that have a loyal following, house-made fries, great paninis, fresh salads and smoothies, and even good old-fashioned breakfasts on the weekends (cinnamon-bun pancakes)! Everything here is sourced locally, served fresh and made right in front of your eyes in a sleek open-kitchen design. Not your typical restaurant – thank goodness!!!
Chopped Leaf – considered the healthiest place to grab a bite and, thankfully, the food is also delicious! The menu includes chef-designed salads, wraps, soups, sandwiches and appetizers. Even the dressings are Chopped Leaf recipes that focus on being natural and flavourful.
Sorso means “to sip” in Italian and we like to sip coffee all day in this funky independent coffee shop, and then switch to vino later in the evening! Fresh pulled sandwiches, loaded breakfast croissants, quirky and flavourful baking – Sorso is so welcomed!
Peppercorns is one of Airdrie’s fave spots for that special night out, but did you know they also do a great lunch buffet? With Airdrie’s only waterfront patio, it is the ideal place to treat yourself. Watch for a new menu this summer!
Thai Charm provides authentic Thai food with fresh-made sauces and family recipes. Try their amazing salad roles and the Drunken Noodles.
The Woods is more than a place to unwind after 18 holes; it is literally Airdrie’s best kept patio secret. A newly expanded menu and wine list provide the perfect way to end a day and their famous Sunday brunch features fresh omelettes and a waffle station. The perfect place to take your visitors.
